John Lee Melton , 82 was born on July 31, 1942, in Stotesbury, West Virginia to John Joseph Melton and Virginia Melton. Both his parents and his wife, Kay Melton proceeded him in death.
John And Kay were married in 1959 and made Kansas City, Missouri their home where they raised two children, John, David Melton and Lisa K Melton.
His professional life included six years in the United States, Air Force and over 30 years with the city of Kansas City’s Waste Management department where he served as a plant supervisor. John was lucky enough to retire at an early age where he was able to travel with his wife and spend a lot of time with friends and family.
A great deal of his leisure time was spent outdoors. For most of his adult life, at least once a year there was a camping/fishing trip on the books! John loved to travel back to West Virginia, to visit family, attend class reunions, roam in the mountains he grew up in and go fishing in the same places he did when he was a kid. John also loved playing cards, scratching lottery tickets, and taking any opportunity to dance!
John departed this life May 1, 2025, surrounded by his family, at liberty Hospital in liberty Missouri . He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, especially by his seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. John is also survived by his son John David Melton, daughter, Lisa K Melton and brother Jack Melton and a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on May 24, 2025, at 9 o’clock in the morning at Park Lawn Funeral Home located at…8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City MO. 64135
