John Musgrove

February 21, 1944 — June 10, 2024

John Musgrove, 80, devoted husband, father and grandfather died in Christ on June 10 th ,
2024, surrounded by love after an amazing final 2 weeks at home with his family never leaving
his side. John was born February 21, 1944, to John and Norma Musgrove of Jacksonville, FL.
When his parents, older brother Phil and younger brother Michael moved just outside Chicago
to Wauconda, Il in 1950, his coming of age began. He played high school football and wrestled
(winning a state championship with a broken leg!), but his biggest high school accomplishment
was winning the heart of his future wife of 55 years, his high school sweetheart, Gale Niemo.
A lifetime of adventures began.
John sold his ‘62 Chevy to buy her engagement ring shortly after his 4 years in the US Navy,
where he proudly served his country on the USS Randolph during Vietnam. After marrying in
1968, John started a storied 42-year career at TWA/American Airlines (retiring with perfect
attendance) while they started their family in Wauconda, IL. Soon Bradley, Tiffany, Tammy
and Brandy were born before more international adventures ensued. John and Gale packed
up their young family for a move to Saudi Arabia, where John was selected to enhance the
operations at Saudia Airlines. After 3 1/2 years of living in the Middle East, two more blessings,
Brenton and Brittany were born back in the States after John was transferred to Kansas City.
They built their dream home in Riverbend in Kearney, Missouri on 3 1/2 acres which was a
great source of pride (after the 6 kids of course) and kept John busy with mowing the lawn on
his beloved Kubota tractor. He loved playing basketball, volleyball, football and baseball
outside in the summers with his children. When he wasn’t working or spending time with family,
you could find him woodworking in his basement workshop making beautiful pieces of furniture
for his children and grandchildren. John also had a love for cooking and buying the latest
kitchen gadgets. He learned to make Kielbasa from Gale’s Polish grandmother, which was a
holiday tradition that everyone looked forward to.
John was the proud Papa of 10 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Family was most
important to him and he always put his family first. He loved watching his children and
grandchildren play sports, dance, theatre and accomplishing all their individual achievements.
John is survived by his beautiful wife Gale Musgrove, 6 fun loving children: Brad Musgrove,
Tiffany (Scott) Jarred, Tammy (Mitch) Straight, Brandy Musgrove, Brenton Musgrove, and
Brittany (Josh) Barnett. He also leaves behind 10 cherished grandchildren: Riley, Ethan,
Ryann, Elijah, Aaron, Benjamin, Abigale, Lillian, John, and Rebecca, as well as 7 great
grandchildren, a brother (Michael), and 5 nephews.
