It is with profound sadness that I share the passing of my beloved father, John Ray Streu, who left us on September 2, 2025, at the age of 85. Surrounded by his loving family and friends in his final moments, he was a man of kindness who cherished every moment with those he loved.
John was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be remembered for his stories of big fish, adventurous hunting trips, world travels, his dry sense of humor and his unconditional generosity. He had a gift for making people laugh and smile.
His interests were wide-ranging. He collected guns, John Wayne memorabilia, baseball cards, coins and Mason duck decoys. He was passionate about hunting, fishing, western movies and bird watching. Some of his happiest moments were as simple as barbecue and donuts with family & friends.
Throughout his life, John achieved much and saw the world. In his early years, he became an Eagle Scout and worked as a lifeguard. He later built bridges as a civil engineer in Louisiana and owned a custom cabinet business in Liberty, Missouri, until his retirement. In all these roles, he touched the lives of countless people.
John was preceded in death by his wife Judy, parents Bernice and R.L. Streu, and brother Jim. He is survived by his children Chris and Matt; grandchildren Alexis and Jack; great-grandchildren Lazlo and Liam; and many cherished friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, September 8, 2:00 PM at Park Lawn Funeral Home in Liberty, Missouri. Following the service, John will be laid to rest at Glenridge Cemetery, reunited beside his beloved wife, Judy.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society https://donate.cancer.org in memory of John Streu. John’s departure leaves a void in our hearts, but his companionship and laughter will forever be cherished.
