Juanita Maggard, born on November 2, 1929, in Chillicothe, Texas, peacefully passed away on July 25, 2026, and was reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband of 64 years, John Raymond Maggard, and her son, John Raymond Maggard Jr. (Raymond).

She is survived by her brother, Dwight; her son, David; seven grandchildren: John Raymond Maggard III (Ray), Priscilla, Prisca, Cody, Tyler, Amber, and Mariesa; twelve great-grandchildren: John Raymond Maggard IV (Johnny), Sophie, Rachael, Ashley, Valorie, William, Hudson, Gracie, Serena, Liam, Myles, and Vivyan; and seven great-great-grandchildren: Laila, Mark, Leon, Lillie, Hannah Wren, Cayden, and Colton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Arlie Snitker; her sisters, Nancy Gravatt and Wilma Brown; her brother, Gaylord Snitker; and her great-grandson, Sylas.

Juanita was a devoted Southern Baptist and a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Raytown, where she became a member in 1956. Her faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was the foundation of her life, and she found great joy and comfort in playing her favorite hymns on the piano or organ.

She deeply loved her husband, John, and was devoted to her family. Nothing brought her more happiness than caring for those she loved, especially through cooking. She was well known for insisting on adding more food to your plate, even after you assured her you had eaten enough.

Juanita met the love of her life, John, when they were young in Octavia, Oklahoma. Their relationship remained strong while John served in the Army after being drafted. When he returned from military service, they resumed their courtship, despite Juanita having moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Determined to be together, John relocated to Kansas City with his sister. During those early years, he would often meet Juanita during her lunch breaks so they could share a meal together, a simple tradition that reflected the love and devotion they shared throughout their 64-year marriage.

Juanita retired from the Marine Corps Finance Center after many years of dedicated service. She often reminisced about the walks she took while working there, and she carried that love of walking with her throughout her life. Evening walks with John—and anyone else who wished to come along—became one of her favorite daily traditions.

Juanita will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her unwavering faith, generous heart, and steadfast love for her family leave a legacy that will continue to live on through the many lives she touched. While her presence on earth will be greatly missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A memorial service will be held at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64138. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026.
