Julie Ann Miller

          Julie Ann (Verhulst) Miller, 55, of Liberty, MO, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2023, with her husband Jim at her side.  She died following a three and a half-year battle with breast cancer.

          Julie was born July 23, 1967, in Kansas City, MO, the middle of three children of Aloysius Joseph and Remonda Leah (Kump) Verhulst.  She grew up in Smithville, MO, and was a 1985 graduate of Smithville High School. Julie later received her bachelor’s degree in Education from Central Missouri State University. She was united in marriage to James Robert Miller on June 22, 1991, and they are blessed with two children, Amelia, and Jonas.

Julie taught at St. James School in Liberty from 1991 until retirement due to her health in 2022. She was a member of St. James parish.

          Julie leaves behind her husband of 32 years, Jim Miller; children, Amelia Westfall (Preston) and Jonas Miller; grandchildren, Bennet, Beckham, and Linley; parents, Joe and Remonda Verhulst; siblings, Diana Najbor (Michael) and Mark Verhulst (Angela); nephews and niece, Evan, Allison and Aiden Verhulst; as well as other family members and many friends.

Julie loved Jeep rides in the mountains of Colorado, walks in the outdoors and doted on her beautiful grandchildren. She had a selfless, beautiful soul and will be so missed by her loved ones.

          Rosary will begin at 9:00 am, followed by visitation until 11:00 am, and Mass of Christian burial beginning at 11:00 am, on Saturday, July 22, at St. James Catholic Church, Liberty, MO.  Private burial.
