Keith Alan Williams, 63, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away at home on October 15, 2026, following a courageous yearlong battle with cancer.
Keith was born on October 3, 1963, in Kansas City, MO, to Ellis “Wayne” and Geneva Williams. The youngest of four children, he joined his siblings, Kevin, Kim, and Kathy. Keith spent his entire life in Kansas City and graduated from Center High School, Class of 1982. He grew up a loyal KC sports fan, a Chiefs fanatic.
Keith met his future wife, Mary Cation, on a blind date, and they were married on February 10, 1990. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, travel, and an abundance of furry companions. Over the years, they adopted and loved eight cats and six dogs, who provided endless entertainment, companionship, and joy. Keith and Mary traveled extensively to Jamaica and made annual trips to Las Vegas, where they also honeymooned. After 31 years of marriage, Mary passed away on October 13, 2021, leaving Keith to cherish the many memories they had made together.
Keith was proud to serve with the Kansas City Fire Department and the Fire Marshal’s Office, following in his father’s footsteps. He joined the department in the same recruitment class as his brother Kevin, making their shared service especially meaningful. After a dedicated career, Keith retired four years ago and looked forward to making Table Rock Lake his permanent home. He and Mary had enjoyed a second home there for many years, spending several weekends each month surrounded by the beauty and peacefulness of lake life. Their beloved cats and dogs traveled between homes with them, and the dogs especially loved going along for boat rides.
Beyond the lake, one of Keith’s greatest passions was riding his motorcycles. Saturday mornings were reserved for cruising the winding roads of the Ozark hills. He enjoyed attending motorcycle rallies, taking the roads less traveled, and discovering that next special place to stop along the way. He loved his sports almost as much as the open road and lake life.
Throughout his life, Keith valued family, hard work, and helping others. Whenever a neighbor or friend needed a hand, Keith was there to lend one. He never hesitated to step up when someone needed help. He will forever be remembered as one of the good guys—a kind, dependable man who made a difference through his actions and the way he cared for others.
A lifelong Lutheran, Keith held a strong faith in Jesus and found comfort in knowing that Heaven was his ultimate reward.
Keith is survived by his mother, Geneva Engelbrecht Williams; his siblings, Kevin Williams (Patty), Kim Anderson (Mark), and Kathy Williams-Griffin (Pete); one niece, Becky Poitras (Chris); and four nephews, Clint Williams (Cassie), Sean Anderson (Meghan), Erik Anderson (Tiffany), and Bryan Anderson. Plus, many grand nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Cation Williams, in 2021, and his father, Ellis Wayne Williams, in 2025.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Park Lawn Funeral Home in Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation will take place from noon to 1 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Keith may make a donation to KC Pet Project, a fitting tribute to his lifelong love of animals.
Though our time together was never long enough, the memories we shared will last a lifetime.
