Kenneth E. “Kenny” Blakey, 67, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2026, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas, surrounded by the love of his family.
Kenny was born on August 25, 1959, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Richard E. and Emma Lee (Spangler) Blakey. Raised in Kansas City, he remained a lifelong resident of the area, deeply rooted in the community he loved. Following high school, Kenny answered the call to duty, proudly serving his country in the United States Army from 1976 to 1980. After his honorable military service, he dedicated his career to working as a forklift operator for several local companies, including Comprehensive Logistics, until his retirement in 2024.
To know Kenny was to know a man who truly embraced the joy of living. Known for his happy-go-lucky personality, he was a bright presence in the lives of many. He loved nothing more than shooting pool and sharing laughs with his close friends at Big Dawgs Bar in Kansas City, Kansas. A passionate, lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan, Kenny also spent his free time cheering on his favorite NASCAR drivers, casting a line while fishing, and finding contentment in life's simple pleasures.
Kenny's life was forever changed during an Oak Ridge Boys concert at Sandstone Amphitheater, where he met the love of his life and devoted companion, Cereta Richards. Together, Kenny and Cereta spent more than 30 beautiful years sharing life's greatest adventures and building a home filled with love.
Cereta survives him at the home, carrying his memory forward. Kenny also leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly, including his two sisters, his three children, and his grandchildren, along with a vast circle of friends whose lives were made brighter by his friendship.
