Larry E. Milum, 84, died peacefully on April 11, 2024. He was born in Trenton, MO, to James Edgar and Lyda (McCart) Milum on August 29, 1939.
Larry married Margaret (Peggy) Linnane in April 1958, and they had three children together. Larry spent two years in the US Army at Ft. Leonardwood as a military policeman. They divorced in 1977. Larry married Ann Pyle in 1989, and they divorced in 2005.
Larry was a businessman and General Manager for Sylvania Lighting for many years before changing careers. He retired from over-the-road trucking in 1997 and kept busy, spending time with his family and working in his garden. He was the primary caregiver to his son, Michael, until he died in 2018 from Muscular Dystrophy. He was also an active member of the Ararat Shriners and had an exemplary record of volunteering to serve many of their charitable causes.
Larry was a dedicated father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jimmy, Dorothy, Tommy, Blanche, Geneva, Buddy, Margie, Ruth, Francis, Donnie, Davie, Stephen, and his son Michael Milum.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Vince Milum (Lynne) and Robin Lewis (Darrel); his grandchildren, Vince Jr., Sean, and Parker Milum; Ashley Johnson (Matthew) and Sean Lewis and step-granddaughter Tabitha Pyle; and his great-grandchildren, Livy, Patrick, Adrian, Declan, Benjamin, Connor, Mollie, and Bridget (Birdie) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Larry’s spirit will continue to shine through the memories he created and the lives he touched.
Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20th, 2024, at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, MO 64138. A service celebrating Larry's life will follow at 1 p.m., followed by graveside services in Memorial Park Cemetery.
