Laverne Hill

Laverne Hill was born in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1941 to Ed Smith and Izoria Moody. She was preceded in passing by her parents and her son, Brian Hill.

Laverne met and married Eligah Hill, and together they made their home in Kansas City, where they raised their family. She earned her degree and dedicated her professional life to serving others as a Registered Nurse at Research Medical Center. Her commitment and compassion were evident in over 30 years of service, culminating in her retirement from the same institution.

Laverne found great joy in traveling, decorating, and shopping. Whenever she was not working or exploring new places, she could often be found relaxing at home, enjoying a good crossword puzzle.

On August 18, 2025, Laverne passed away at the Amour Oaks Nursing facility. She leaves behind her son, Michael Hill (Carla); daughter, Karen Dixon; brother, Sam Moody; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a loving circle of relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.
