Lewis E. Crain, Jr. was born September 7, 1944, in Texarkana, Arkansas, to Lewis E. Crain Sr. and Hazel L. Webster-Crain-Simon. Guided by his bonus father, Mr. Governor Simon. Lewis became a lifelong learner whose achievements led him from UMKC’s Chemical Analytical Lab to Western Electric/AT&T. He made history as the first African American Radioactive Technologist in the United States.
Lewis’s life was filled with devotion, perseverance and inspiring all who knew him, which was rooted in the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Simon, and other loved ones. Lewis leaves behind a loving family: wife Elaine, siblings Jacquline, Donna, Esther, Vonzetta & Victor. Children Sean, Sr., Donny, Candis, Aarikca, and Malcolm; grandchildren Jason, Sean Jr., DayJha, DayNisha, Donny Jr., Malayjha, Carrington, Sheldon, and Ashley; great-grandchildren DeVine and Cairo; and a host of spiritual sons, daughters, and cherished friends. His legacy of perseverance, faith, and innovation will continue to live on through all who knew him.
