She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on Christmas Day 1926. During the Great Depression, Lillian’s family moved to Leavenworth, Kansas where she and her siblings attended a one-room schoolhouse. Some of her happiest memories were her experiences on their Kansas farm. She graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City in 1944.
Lillian enjoyed two trips to Germany, the ancestral home of her grandfather. She also loved many family road trips to the western states. An accomplished seamstress and an extraordinary homemaker, she sewed most of her clothing, much of her home décor, many beautiful quilts and even greeting cards. She embroidered sweatshirts and made personalized clothing for her beloved grandchildren. She taught embroidery classes for 14 years in Independence, Missouri and in Overland Park, Kansas. She was a member of the National Machine Embroidery Instructors Association.
Most importantly, Lillian was a member of the Raytown Church of Christ for most of her 60 years in Kansas City. Lillian used her creative talents to sew many baby quilts and embroidered towels and her clothes.
After the passing of her husband, Lillian moved to Columbia, Missouri, where she became a member of the Fairview Road Church of Christ.
The family would like to thank the staff of Visiting Angels in Columbia, the Compassions Hospice of Columbia and the volunteers at the Caring Hearts and Hands house for their compassionate care.
