Linda L. Wood, 80, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of September 30, 2025. Born on March 20, 1945, in Kansas City, she lived a life grounded in faith, kindness, and service to others.
A class of '63 graduate of Northeast High School in Kansas City, Linda built a successful career in the insurance industry, spending the majority of her professional years with BMA of Kansas City. She was admired for her dedication, integrity, and gentle manner, earning the respect and friendship of those she worked with in her more than 40 years of service.
Linda’s faith guided her throughout her life. A devoted Christian, she shared her love of the Lord through many years of teaching children’s Sunday School at Independence Boulevard Christian Church. Her class was a place of warmth and care where she often provided breakfast for neighborhood children before class, a simple but profound reflection of her generous spirit.
In recent years, she was an active congregant of Raytown Christian Church, where she found continued fellowship and faith. Linda was also a devoted caregiver, offering love, patience, and support to many family members throughout their lives. Her quiet strength and compassion were a blessing to all who received her care.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Dolores Wood (née Haley); her sister, Shirley Landers who passed only three days prior; her brother-in-law, Larry Landers; and her nephew, Steven Landers.
She is survived by her brother, Phillip Wood, and his wife, Hope; nieces, Kimberly Hodge and Heather Openlander and her husband, Kirk; and her grand-nephew, Nathaniel George. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her faith, selflessness, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.
A memorial service celebrating Linda’s life will be held at Raytown Christian Church, 6108 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown MO 64133 on November 12, 2025 with visitation starting at 1:00 immediately followed by services at 2:00. Arrangements are under the care of Park Lawn Funeral Home of Kansas City, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Raytown Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.
