Lisa Gaye Solomon Shoemaker
1955-2025
Lisa Gaye Solomon Shoemaker passed away September 15, 2025, at home surrounded by her family in Liberty, MO. Born in 1955 in Fayette, MO, she was the first daughter of Clell Edward and Marilyn Brown Solomon. A majority of her childhood was spent in Jefferson City, MO. She graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1973 and received her Bachelors Degree from William Jewell College and her Masters Degree from the University of Central Missouri. At William Jewell College, she met and married James Chipman Shoemaker of Sedalia, MO, in 1977. While in Sedalia, she and Jim welcomed daughters Whitney Katharyn and Regan Elizabeth. Lisa enjoyed a thirty-five year career as a writing and literature instructor at State Fair Community College. Jim and Lisa resided in Sedalia for 40 years before relocating to Liberty, MO in 2018.
Lisa was a member of Second Baptist Church Liberty, MO, where she served in various committees and sang in the choir. She was also a member of chapter KO of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and founder and member of the Joie du Livre book club.
She was preceded in death by her mother and is survived by her father, Fayette, MO; her husband Jim of the home; her daughters, Whitney (Brett) Luckenbill of Carmel, IN and Regan (J.R.) Rockenfield of Kansas City, MO; her siblings Brad (Sharyn) Solomon of Lawrence, KS and Lana Solomon of Jefferson City, MO. She was proud of and dearly loved her five grandchildren; Ava Kathryn and Jack Thomas Luckenbill, Henry James, Peter Chipman and Claudia Kathryn Rockenfield; five nieces and one nephew.
A visitation will be held on September 19, 2025 from 12:00 - 2:00 at Second Baptist Church Liberty with a service to follow at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to William Jewell College at www.jewell.edu/jewellfund.
