Loretta Mae Gagne (Williams) passed away on October 10, 2025, peacefully with her family by her side in Albertville, Alabama. She was 85 years old. Loretta was born in Kansas City, Missouri on October 17, 1939. She was the beloved daughter of John and Dorothy Williams.
Loretta was preceded in death by her son Louis Richard Gagne, Jr., her parents John and Dorothy Williams, her grandparents, and her brother John Williams II.
Loretta grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. After she graduated high school she married Louis Gagne on October 13, 1961, and was a loving military wife for nearly 30 years. They were stationed in various parts of the country including Missouri, Louisiana, Guam, Arkansas, and Hawaii. Louis and Loretta had four children: Dorothy Harris, Louis Gagne II (1967-1967), Richard Gagne, and Amy Jones.
She was a member of North Pulaski Methodist Church. Loretta enjoyed bowling and was in a bowling league in the Air Force. She enjoyed cooking, drawing, music, bingo, reading, and her cats. Loretta was a champion for the underdog. She loved God, sunrise services, and the Chiefs.
Those who knew Loretta will remember her for her great sense of humor, her strong work ethic, and her unwavering love and joy for her family. Loretta loved her parents dearly. Her mother was her best friend, and she spoke fondly and often about her father whose tragic passing when Loretta was 18 years old broke her heart.
Loretta’s greatest joy and favorite activity was spending time with her grandchildren. She loved traveling with her children and grandchildren, taking them to Chuck E Cheese, the dollar store, and anywhere she could treat them. Loretta loved watching them grow and bragging about them every chance she had. When her children and grandchildren came to visit her, she was known to delay their departure in any way she could think of so that she could have a moment more time in their presence.
Loretta had many friends in all the places she lived in. She was loving and generous, and would literally give you anything she had, even if she didn’t have it, she would find a way. Loretta loved animals. In all the time her children have known her, she had at least one cat, often more, and occasionally a dog. She had a big heart for animals and never turned away the stray and homeless pets that found their way to her often by way of her children.
At the age of 44, Loretta became a single parent. She worked hard to provide for her children. Loretta worked long hours on her feet, sometimes overnight shifts, and she still managed to attend games and activities her children participated in, chaperone a school field trip, and be present for her children. She had a strong work ethic and instilled that by example for her children. Although Loretta experienced painful and difficult times during her life, the loss of her infant son, and other hardships, she had a good life. A life full of love, family, and friends. She was brave and courageous, funny, and kind. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Loretta is survived by her three children, Dorothy Harris (husband Robert Harris), Richard Gagne (wife Annett Gagne), and Amy Jones (husband Scott Jones); nine grandchildren, Robbie Harris, Shawn Harris, Jayme Winkler, Rachel Gagne, Richard Gagne II, Lateia Gagne, Cole Harris, Dylan Harris, and Autum Jones; eight great-grandchildren, her sister Kathy Williams, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She will be buried with her first-born son in Kansas City, Missouri, at Park Lawn Funeral home on October 25, 2025.
