In Loving Memory of
Mallory Aven Kobolt
February 19, 2011 - November 4, 2025
Our beloved Mallory, age 14, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday November 4. Though her time with us was far too short, she filled every day with laughter, strength, curiosity, and love that will continue to ripple through the lives she touched.
Mallory had an amazing smile, signature curly hair, and a bubbly personality that drew people to her. She was beautifully kind, fiercely loyal, and protective of those she loved. From the moment she was born, she was stubborn and determined, traits that helped her live life bravely and unapologetically.
An aerial artist with incredible strength and grace, Mallory found joy on her silks and sling, and recently she began learning to use straps. At the aerial studio, Mallory grew into a strikingly confident and thoughtful human. As her confidence grew, so did her tremendous heart for others.
Mallory was going to travel down paths we could only imagine, led by her strong independent streak. She was never interested in doing things just because other people did them, in fact, she highly resented any suggestion of conformity. If it wasn’t her idea, she just wasn’t doing it, despite her parents’ numerous failed attempts. She wanted to travel the world, study cosmetology, and be “in the air” as much as she could be. She had a deep love of animals, even the scaly ones!
She was a devoted sister to her equally thoughtful and caring older brother, Carson, and she made her parents better people every day. Sensitive, brave, and endlessly creative, she filled her world with witty humor, silly selfies and abundant hugs. She developed a love of crochet after asking her Nana to teach her how so that she could sit with a friend who crocheted while she healed from surgery.
Like her dad, she had ever-changing but deeply passionate interests, from dinosaurs and dragons as a young child, to cats and geckos, reading and writing, crocheting, attending concerts, doing nails, and even the NFL. With each passion she dove deep, learning everything she could about her interest and spending most of her time focusing on it.
She had many nicknames, each one a reflection of how deeply she was loved: Mal Gal (given by her kindergarten teacher Ms. Rodes), Makadoodle (from her Papa), and at home, Mallaroo, Roo Mama, Roo, Mallaroni, Roni Girl, Roni, Roodle, and countless others.
Mallory is preceded in death by her uncle Alexander, her great-grandparents and her dogs Indie and Chesney. She is survived by her parents, Justin and Lindsay; her brother, Carson; her dog Lulu, cat Lily, and gecko Noodle; her grandparents, Shelley Jipson-Lomax, Mike Lomax, Deborah Squire, Mitch Williams, Dennis and Tracy Aven, Jim and Jeanne Kobolt; her aunt Holly Kobolt; uncles James Kobolt, Kyle Armour, and Tyler Armour; cousins Grace, Ava, Adele, Scarlett, Stella, Ryleigh and Chevelle; and numerous other extended family, and friends who were family, including her beloved “Grammie,” The Hoeraths, The Kleffners, The Porters and the amazing families of 69th Terrace. She also leaves behind two tremendous school communities in Pembroke Hill and St. Teresa’s Academy, her compassionate aerial studio community, and her incredible group of friends who loved her as fiercely as she loved them.
Her family is deeply grateful to every coach, educator, and mentor who guided and encouraged her throughout her life, she was fortunate to have many.
