Margie Lee Cox, aged 83 passed way on July 11, 2026 in Conway SC. Marking the beginning of her rest in Jesus.

Margie was born July, 25, 1942 in Kansas City, MO to the late Roy Louis Milam and Mary Kathleen Schoonover Milam. She was the oldest of three children, raised within a close-knit family on a sprawling working farm in Bates City MO. Lovingly nurtured by her hard working parents, loving grandparents. Whether it was feeding the chickens, working alongside her parents or lovingly caring for her two younger siblings Margie found the values of kindness and compassion. At an early age, she learned to care deeply for family and others especially those in her local community.

Shortly After graduating from Oak Grove High School Margie’s cousin Leah introduced her to a young man named Alan W. Donovan. While they were out on date she jokingly asked him if he would “marry her”he said “YES” thus began their adventurous life together. Being a military wife she dutifully followed Alan overseas to Guam, the Philippines, Africa, and many other exotic places. After some years abroad she returned home with two children in tow. Margie became a career woman working effectively as a medical, dental and administrative assistant. It was during her time with Brooks Research Company that she chanced to meet, fall in love, and marry Dale Edward Cox . During their shared 40 years together they expanded and raised a beautifully bonded family of four .

The Cox home was a reflection of Margies affable warm nature and quirky humor. Good food, laughter, and friendship were never in short supply. Deep and enduring friendships, as well as cherished memories were forged while sharing Margie and Dales amazing tacos, enchiladas and lasagna.

Margies spiritual journey began in her mid to late twenties upon returning from overseas. Similar to that of her mother and father, her passion for Christ and willingness to serve others became a lifelong commitment. She was an active member of Oak Grove Seventh Day Adventist Church until she relocated to SC in 2022 for health reasons. Her steadfast faith and servants heart gave her the rare gift of making those around her feel valued and accepted. She didn’t just speak of her faith she lived it, every day, in service, kindness, and love to others. Whether she was volunteering at the Woman’s clothes closet, singing for special music or serving at a potluck meal on Sabbath, her presence was a consistent reflection of Gods goodness and love.

At her core she was energetic, gregarious, and generous, with a captivating style and grace that drew others near. Her singing voice has been related to that of an angel, She welcomed strangers without hesitation. Her unyielding love of God and devotion to her family, wove the threads of her many talents into an amazing tapestry of a life filled with abundant love, selfless commitment, and faithful servitude.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, Roy L. Milam and Mary K Milam; her first husband Alan W. Donovan; and second husband Dale E. Cox.

She is survived by her sister, Rita K. Stephens (James); Louis R. Milam (Tonja); her children, Alan W. Donovan Jr. (Donna); Carolyn K. Webster (Timothy); Dale L. Cox (Dana); James M. Cox (Lora); her beloved grandchildren, Alan W. Donovan III “Trip” (Jayme); Brandon Donovan (Abby), Valerie N. Poh (Eric); Rachelle L. Pendleton (Will); Austin D. Cox (Kenzie); Keaton Tracy, Logan Ballenger (Hunter); James Lee Alan Cox; Katie Danner (Austin); great grandchildren; ten with one on the way and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

Margie will be remembered for her unwavering faith, beautiful smile, and angelic singing voice. The loving devotion she shared so freely with her family, friends, and church community will remain forever in our hearts. Though her time on earth was too short, her legacy will live on with those she touched and in the hope she placed in Gods promise of eternal life.

A Celebration of life will be held in her honor at Park Lawn Funeral Home,

8251 Hillcrest Rd. Kansas City, Missouri, on July 24, 2026, at 1:00-5:00 pm, with a memorial service from 3:00-4:00 pm, family and friends are invited to remain for fellowship until 5:00pm.
