Marilyn Joyce (Weld) Burasco, 86, of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Marilyn was born on November 25, 1938, in Kansas City, MO. She met her husband, Bob, in high school, and they were married for 68 years. As a devoted stay-at-home mom, Marilyn had the opportunity to be actively involved in her children’s school and extracurricular activities. Later, she worked outside the home at House of Lloyd, Weld Wheels, Track Manager for I-70 Speedway and, for many years, in the office at Barstow School, where she truly shined.
Marilyn’s faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She was an active member of several Baptist congregations and found great joy in serving as a Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School leader at Southview Baptist Church in Raytown, MO.
A woman of boundless energy and enthusiasm, Marilyn loved staying busy and traveling. Family vacations and activities included snow skiing, camping, boating, water skiing, canoeing, sailing, windsurfing, and trips to Europe with family and friends. She also hosted memorable game nights, her famous Easter Egg Hunts and Halloween Parties.
Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her friends, playing bridge, Bunko, and Mahjong. She was a member of the Raintree Garden Club, volunteered at the Abundant Life Church Food Pantry, and had season tickets to The New Theatre Restaurant, where she often mentioned that she may have enjoyed the desserts even more than the shows!
Left to cherish Marilyn’s memory is her beloved husband, Bob Burasco, and their children: Joyce (Dennis) Prather, Tom (Deanna) Burasco, and Kathy (Anthony) Spalitto. Marilyn was also adored by her grandchildren: Kaly (Kevin) Meives, Bo Burasco, Cole (Holly) Prather, Nico Burasco, Jerico (Jackie) Burasco, Anthony (Danielle) Spalitto, Dominic (Cassandra) Spalitto, and Vincent Spalitto, as well as her four great-grandchildren: Carly Prather, Brooks Burasco, Julian Prather, and Dominic Thomas Spalitto.
Marilyn will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her.
