Mary Joyce Fulkerson

Mary Joyce Fulkerson (Carter), age 82, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on June 10, 2025. Joyce was born on October 17, 1942 in Graves County, Kentucky, the daughter of John Kenneth Carter and Mary Frances Carter. She graduated from Lowes High School near Mayfield, Kentucky then married her high school sweetheart, Raymond Gerald Fulkerson on August 30, 1960. She received a college degree in elementary education from Freed-Hardeman College and spent her career as an elementary school teacher, teaching primarily kindergarten and third grade.

Gerald and Joyce had three sons, Gregg, Todd and Brett. Joyce was preceded in death by Gregg in 2009 and Gerald in 2019. She was survived by sons Todd (Andrea) and Brett (Sarah); grandchildren Carter, Lily, Savannah, Jack, Audrey; great-grandchildren Ella and Charlotte.

Joyce had a strong faith in God and demonstrated Christian love and kindness to all those she met.

Visitation is scheduled for 10:00AM with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:00AM on July 9, 2025 at Platte Woods United Methodist Church, 7310 NW Prairie View Rd, Platte Woods, Missouri, 64151. All are welcome to attend to celebrate Joyce’s life.

The family requests donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation in lieu of flowers.
