Mary Ann Martin, 95, of Raytown, MO, passed away on September 23, 2023. She was born on July 7, 1928, in Springfield, MO, to the late Yvon C. and Ruth Hildrith Massey. She moved with her family in 1939 to Warrensburg, MO where her father owned Oakhurst Dairy and Post Oak Farm. She graduated from Warrensburg High School in 1946. She attended Central Missouri State College where she earned her Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1949. She was an American Royal Queen contestant in 1948. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph L. Martin, her father, mother, and her brother, Dwight E. Massey.
Mary Ann leaves behind a cherished legacy and will be forever remembered by her children: Kyle (Adell), Jim (Karen), Ann (Steve), and Lee (Lori). She was also a beloved grandmother to Doug, Katie, Kim, Scott, Paul, Drew, Grant, Chad, and to her great-grandchildren: Jack, Lucy, Molly, Izzy, Lukas, Sean, Thomas, and Kassidy. Mary Ann's sister-in-law and best friend, Emma Massey, and her cousins Stephen Massey and Edmond Ellis, also survive her.
Mary Ann had a passion for music and education. She served as the organist for Central Missouri State College, then taught music in Trenton, Adrian, and Raytown schools, retiring in 1986 as a librarian at Raytown High School. Mary Ann's talents extended beyond her career, as she enjoyed playing bridge, dancing, needlepoint, singing, playing the piano, and camping with the Raytown Road Roamers Camping Club. She was a proud member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority and a charter member of Chapter IY, PEO.
Mary Ann found solace in her faith and worshiped at Raytown Christian Church. She enjoyed participating in Sunday School and attending music programs at the church.

Mary Ann Martin will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, love, and passion for supporting her family will forever remain in our hearts.
Visitation will be 9AM, with services to follow at 10AM, Friday, September 29 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, Missouri; burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
