Mavis Lou Hayes, 82, of Liberty, MO passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, at Aspire Senior Living in Excelsior Springs, MO.
Mavis was born on May 29, 1943, in Pierce Town, Arkansas, to Hershal Harley and Goldie Foster Ricketts. She was an Officer for the Clay County Juvenile Division, where she served as the manager of the Clay County Boys Home in Liberty, MO. Mavis was dedicated to her work, helping many young men transition towards productive and positive lifestyles. In her free time, Mavis found joy in crocheting and immersing herself in romance novels.
On January 3, 1963, Mavis was united in marriage to Kenneth Hayes. Kenneth preceded her in death in 2020. She is survived by her mother, Goldie Ricketts, her brother, Doy Ricketts, her twin sons, Ronald(Paula) and Donald(Shawna) Hayes, her daughter, Cindy Ernst, 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 1-2 pm at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, located at 1640 N Rte 291 Hwy, Liberty, MO 64068. A Celebration of Life, with a time to share cherished memories of Mavis, will begin at 2 pm. Interment will follow at Glenridge Cemetery in Liberty, MO.
Mavis's kindness and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
