Robert Michael “Bobby” Mcmurry

June 21, 1969 — August 6, 2020

Robert Michael “Bobby” McMurry passed away unexpectedly on August 6, 2020, at the age of 51 years old. Bobby was born on June 21, 1969 in Independence, MO to parents Robert R and Glenda Sue McMurry. When he was 9, he excitedly welcomed a baby sister, Molly Christine. He was part of Truman High School’s class of 1987, and became a talented cook. He also worked in roofing, as a stonemason, and most recently in Maintenance at Children Mercy Hospital. Disabled for the last few years of his life, he spent his time with his son Peyton, and with his loving family and friends. He loved taking his son on adventures, trying out great restaurants, and spending quality pool time with his sister Molly, brother-in-law Mark, and his niece and nephew, Leo and Linley Lang. He also enjoyed fishing, listening to classic rock music, and watching his beloved Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. Bobby had a great sense of humor, an incredibly loving and larger-than-life personality, and was a dear father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend. Bobby was kind and helpful to everyone he met, and he never met a stranger. His laugh was contagious and like a great big hug.

Robert is survived by his parents Robert R and Glenda Sue McMurry, his young son Peyton Michael McMurry, his son’s mother Teana McMurry, his sister and brother-in-law Molly (McMurry) Lang and Mark Lang, nephew Leo Lang, and niece Linley Lang, a large and close extended family such as aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ora J and Glada Sue Raffurty, and uncle Richard O Raffurty.

A public visitation will be from 12:30 – 1:30 pm, Friday, August 14 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd. Due to Covid-19, services will be private with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Bobby made the selfless decision to become an organ donor, so in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Midwest Transplant Network.
