Merna Jo Ware of Kansas City MO Passed away Oct 1 2026 at home with her daughter and husband Rick. She had been with ACG Hospice since March 2026 with terminal aggressive Breast Cancer.
She was a beloved wife, mom, grandmother and great grandmother. Being raised as a Southern Baptist, she was a God loving woman reading her NKJV Bible.
She worked for AT&T for a period of 22 yrs. When she retired, her and Gene attended to their garden in Grandview. They traveled every year, one-year cruises, Alaska was her favorite, and the other year driving. She has been a member of South Haven Church since 2011, where she was very active, and obtained a few tight relationships. She and Gene were very devoted square dancers with Live Wires. Merna sewed a lot of her and Genes outfits. She moved in with her daughter Karen 7 yrs ago and attended Lakeland Community Church with her.
She is proceeded in death by parents Leroy Herron, and Lula Belle Lewis. She is survived by sister, Elizabeth Sumner. By daughter Karen Herrera (Rick), Granddaughter Stephanie Hutton (Rodney) Great granddaughters Hailey Shipley, Aspen Van Roekel, and grandson Tristan Van Roekel. Donations requested to go to ACG Hospice 1650 NE Grand Ave suite 201 Lee's Summit, MO 64086 Susan B Koeman Foundation.
