A visitation will be from 2:00 – 3:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Glenridge Cemetery in Liberty, Missouri. Michael was born on February 15, 1945 in Pleasanton, California to Hubert and Margaret (Pittman) Chase, where his father was stationed in the United States Navy. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from De La Salle High School where he enjoyed being on the baseball team, running track, and playing in the band. After school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he was a Green Beret and served in Vietnam. On September 9, 1967, he was united in marriage to Janet Irene Shepp at Visitation Parish Catholic Church on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri. Together they raised two daughters, Joli and Rebecca. He attended the police academy and joined the Kansas City Missouri Police Department where he worked for 25 years before retiring as Sergeant. Mike then worked 10 years as a manager for Metro North Mall before retiring a second time. He coauthored “Spotlight On History”, short stories written by his father before his death and compiled together by Michael. Michael also wrote and published “Beyond Remorse” and ”City Wolves”. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Michael loved to listen and play all kinds of music. He favored Jazz and would play trumpet in small groups. He enjoyed playing golf. He really loved his dogs, so much so that he was a K-9 officer twice during his career as a police officer. But he will best be remembered as the most loyal friend you could have asked for. There is nothing he wouldn’t have done for his friends and family.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Janet Chase; daughters, Joli Finke (Dave) and Rebecca Auriemma; grandchildren, Robert Michael Stepp, David Joseph Finke, Patrick Michael Finke, Daniel William Finke, and Anna Grace Finke; brother, Dennis Chase (Sandy); sister, Peggy Wood (Steve); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
