IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Milton "Ray"
Portwood
January 13, 1950 – January 25, 2026
Milton “Ray” Portwood passed away unexpectedly at home on January 25, 2026, at the age of 76.
He was born on January 13, 1950, Ray lived a life defined by hard work, integrity, and quiet strength. A welder for over 40 years, Ray was more than a craftsman – he was an artist with metal, shaping steel and iron with skill and care, leaving behind creations that reflected both his talent and his heart. He was the proud owner of Portwood’s Mobile Welding & Repair LLC, a business he built from the ground up through dedication, talent, and a reputation for always doing the job right. His work ethic and artistry earned him the respect of customers, colleagues, and friends alike.
Beyond his work, Ray will be remembered for his loyalty and quiet strength. He experienced many meaningful milestones in life with his wife (Laurie), including his daughter’s (Melissa) graduation and wedding (Melissa and Chris), and the births of his beloved granddaughter (McKenna) and grandson (Sutton) – moments that brought him immense pride and joy. Family meant everything to Ray, and he cherished the time spent with those he loved.
He is survived by his wife, (Laurie Portwood), of the home; his daughter, Melissa Martin (Chris Martin); his granddaughter, (McKenna Martin); and his grandson, (Sutton Martin), along with numerous other family members and friends who will forever hold his memory close. Respecting Ray’s wishes, no services will be held. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered, and his work – both in metal and in life – will continue to inspire all who knew him.
