Minoru Alsup

Minoru 'Sam' Alsup, 58, passed away on July 7th, 2025. Minoru was born on September 13th, 1966 in Okinawa, Japan to Harold and Kiku Alsup. He graduated in 1985 and enlisted to serve his country joining the United States Marine Corps. Minoru met Kazumi while stationed in Okinawa, Japan and married her in 1991. Over 34 years together, they had 2 children. After his honorable discharge, they moved to Kansas City, Missouri and he began working for National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as a material handler, where he loyally remained at until his passing. Minoru was an avid outdoorsman who's soul was most at peace when casting a line into the streams of his favorite spot Roaring River. He always made time for camping and fishing trips all year round and thanks to the feisty fish even finding time to make a quick stop to the ER. But not before trying to fix it with duct tape, of course. Minoru's love for the outdoors gave us countless of immeasurable memories and taught us to appreciate nature's gift. Though he may be gone, Minoru's spirit lives on in every sunset over Roaring River, in every crackle of wood by the campfire and every cuss word in the wind.

Minoru is survived by wife Kazumi Alsup of Kansas City, Missouri; children Melissa Alsup and husband William of San Antonio, Texas and Marques Alsup of Kansas City, Missouri; 3 grandchildren Zayne, Lilena and Sienna and 2 bonus grandchildren Kai and Paige; siblings Yukimi Barker, husband Jason and their daughter Kate of Harrisonville, Missouri, Thomas Alsup of Harrisonville, Missouri and Masae Tafuku of Okinawa, Japan.

Visitation viewing is scheduled for July 18th, 2025 10:00AM at Park Lawn Funeral Home, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00AM. All friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Minoru's life with his family.
