In loving memory of Nancy L. Donahue, a cherished soul who graced our lives with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love. Nancy passed away peacefully at home on April 14, 2026, surrounded by a room full of her beloved family, a testament to the love she cultivated throughout her lifetime.
Born on July 10, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri, Nancy lived a remarkable life that spanned over 82 yrs, becoming a treasured matriarch whose influence will be felt for generations to come. Nancy was the cherished daughter of Samuel and Betty (Adams) Ferguson and was predeceased by her loving parents, Clem and Betty Boan, and Samuel Ferguson, as well as her siblings Robert and Michael Ferguson, and her spouses, Jackie Scogin Sr. and J.D. Donahue.
Her enduring love and commitment to family were central to her life, and she leaves behind a legacy of love with her surviving children: Tammy Welch, Brandy (Richard) Alery, Tommy Scogin, and Jackie (Samantha) Scogin, Jr. She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren—Ethan (Rachel) Welch, Josie (Nick) Evel, Amy Barker, Jesse (Ben) Oman, Karlee (Ronnie) Ridinger, Tanner Scogin, Bailey Scogin, Olivia Alery, and Carissa Alery—and a great-grandmother to two great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Kendall Oman, each of whom she adored deeply.
Nancy's life was one of service and devotion, both to her family and her community. As a dedicated homemaker, she nurtured her family with love and care, living with a servant’s heart. Her commitment extended beyond her home as she served as a Teacher’s Aid at Noland Elementary, participated actively in the Altar Guild and Food Pantry at Messiah Lutheran Church, and led local Girl Scout Troop for her daughters and volunteered with her son's and grandson's Boy Scout troops.
Nancy’s hands were never idle, crafting numerous blankets and slippers for Cancer Action, and she was known for her creative crafts shared with her family and lived ones. For 45 years, Nancy was a devoted member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Independence, MO, where her faith and fellowship flourished. Her love for the summer months reflected her joy in life, as she spent time with loved ones at picnics, shopping outings, and local farmer's markets. Her passion for the Santa-Cali-Gon craft fair, where she was affectionately called the "Queen" by her son Jack, highlighted her vibrant spirit and zest for community celebrations.
Nancy's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Pastor Jon Nicolaus, whose 42 years of love, service, and compassion have been a blessing to not only Nancy but the entire family. They also wish to thank the exceptional caregivers and staff at Ascend Hospice, Lee's Summit, whose dedication and compassion have been a true blessing.
A service to celebrate Nancy's extraordinary life will be held on April 22, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Park Lawn Funeral Home, with a Visitation on April 21, 2026, 6 - 8pm, located at 8251 Hillcrest Rd, Kansas City, Missouri 64138.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Dementia Society of America in Nancy's memory, supporting a cause close to her heart.
Nancy L. Donahue’s life was a beautiful testament to love, faith, and service. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and community. May she rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love she so generously gave.
