Nathaniel Hawthorne Haskins, Jr. 76, of Kansas City, Missouri transitioned unexpectedly and peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospital on January 7, 2022. Nathaniel was born November 29, 1945, in Texarkana, Texas to Nathaniel Hawthorne Haskins, Sr. and Ladell (Washington) Haskins, who preceded him in death.
The family relocated from Texarkana Texas to Kansas City Missouri. After graduating from Central High School, he went on to be a driver for Stanley Sargent supply company for many years.
Nathaniel was known affectionately as “PaPa” to family and “Peanut” to many friends over the years. Although most of his life was spent on his own terms, stability came in his later years. His life provided many different turns but through it all, he truly loved life and most of all his family, which was his greatest pride and joy. He delighted in spending time with his children and viewing photographs of his grandchildren, and great- grandchildren.
Nathaniel was proceeded in death by his former wife Deborah R. Haskins and is survived by two daughters and one son, Lynnette R. Haskins, Angela R. Haskins, and Jeffrey D. Haskins Sr., all of Kansas City, Missouri; his grandchildren Rochelle D. Haskins, Jarren M. Haskins, and Jeffrey D. Haskins Jr.; Great -grandchildren Jurniee L. Dixon, Harmoniee L. Dixon, Khaizen M. Medina, Cadalaya R. Haskins, Kadence Haskins, Maurice White and Aubreonna Haskins. Nathaniel also leaves behind a devoted family friend Marva Johnson and a host of extended family and friends.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Luke’s Hospital for the care and compassion that he received, with special thanks to the Neuroscience and the Medical Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit teams.
His celebration of life visitation will be held at Park Lawn Funeral Home located at 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, MO 64138 on January 22, 2022, from 6-8 P.M. Masks will be required for all those in attendance.Service Information:
