Newton L. Vanderford

          Newton Lee Vanderford, 79, of Holt, MO, passed unexpectedly on May 4, 2024, at home where he lived with his son and granddaughter.

          Newt was born March 27, 1945, in Rosebud, TX, the son of Marshall and Margaret (Hudson) Vanderford. Following high school graduation, he served in the US Navy during the Vietnam era, receiving honorable discharge in 1967.   He was married to Judith Ann (Phillips) on February 2, 1974, and she preceded Newt in death in 2006. 

          Newt operated Vanderford Excavating for 30+ years and in the past year worked for his son Brent’s construction business, operating a skid steer the day before his death.  He was a member of Missouri City Angerona Masonic Lodge 193.  

          Survivors include his children, Dee Dee Vanderford McClosky, Jill Vanderford McNeil (Greg), and Brent Vanderford; grandchildren, Emma Kate McClosky, Max Davis McClosky, and Aryia Myrle Ann Vanderford; siblings, Gary Vanderford (Carole), Pat Dunn, and Donald Vanderford (Sue); as well as other family and many friends.

          Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm, followed at 4:00 pm with Masonic ritual, funeral service and military honors, on Saturday, June 1, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty, MO.  

          Memorial contributions are suggested to Missouri City Angerona Masonic Lodge 193.
