Together in life, love, and adventure, Nicholas Matthew "Nick" Szymanski and Louise Elaine Szymanski shared a remarkable journey spanning more than seven decades of marriage. Their story was one of devotion, hard work, family, and an enduring commitment to one another that inspired all who knew them.

Nick was born on April 5, 1937, in Gary, West Virginia. Raised in Kentucky, he later moved to New York City around the age of eleven. It was there, on a neighborhood baseball playground, that fifteen-year-old Nick met Louise, the young woman who would become his lifelong partner and best friend. What began as a youthful friendship grew into a love story that lasted a lifetime, culminating in seventy years of marriage.

Louise was born on July 23, 1937, in Jamaica, Queens, New York. One of her fondest life stories is that the moment she met Nick on the neighborhood playground she told her friends, “That’s the man I am going to marry.” Known for her extraordinary typing speed and attention to detail, she worked as a secretary during her early career. Yet her most treasured role was that of wife, mother, homemaker, and the heart of her family. Louise dedicated her life to creating a loving home, making sure her children always had a parent waiting for them before and after school. Her unwavering devotion, strength, and discipline provided the foundation upon which her family flourished.

Nick devoted more than forty years to the electrical utility industry as a Journeyman union power lineman. His career took him throughout the United States as a contractor, helping build and maintain the infrastructure that powered communities across the country. He spent much of his career with Wheatland Electric in Garden City, Kansas, where he was respected for his skill, dedication, and strong work ethic. Nick took great pride in his profession and in providing for the family he loved so deeply.

Together, Nick and Louise embodied the values of dedication, sacrifice, and partnership. While Nick traveled where the work led, Louise provided the steady foundation that held the family together. Through every success, challenge, and milestone, they remained devoted to one another and to their children.

Following retirement, Nick and Louise embraced a shared passion for travel and adventure. They purchased a fifth-wheel RV and set out to explore America together, eventually visiting all forty-eight continental states. Whether discovering new places, meeting fellow travelers, or simply enjoying the journey side by side, they treasured every mile and every memory made together.

Nick will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering determination, hardworking nature, and adventurous spirit. Louise will be remembered for her New York City accent, and the loving home she created for those around her. Together, they built a life rooted in commitment, resilience, and unconditional love.

Left to cherish their memories are their seven beloved children: Sheri, Nicholas Jr. "Nicky,” Kristine, Stella, Frank, Matthew, and Luke. They are also lovingly remembered by their grandchildren: Rachel, Zachary, Jessica, Dominic, Gabrielle, and Max, and great grandchildren: Lahla, Harlow, Penelope, Talulah, Estelle, and Jude, along with extended family members and countless friends whose lives were enriched by their kindness and example.

Their seventy-years of marriage stand as a testament to the enduring power of love, friendship, and commitment. The lessons they taught, the family they nurtured, and the memories they created will continue to live on through the generations that follow.

Though they are deeply missed, their legacy remains in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know them.
