Norma Rowland Obituary
Norma Rowland passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, at the age of 94.
Norma was a talented athlete whose accomplishments included being named to the 1955 AAU Women’s All-American Basketball Team. Her competitive spirit, determination, and strength remained defining qualities throughout her life. She was also an avid sports fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, proudly holding season tickets.
While basketball and football were early passions, some of her happiest moments were spent at the lake. She cherished time with family and friends, enjoyed the beauty of the outdoors, and created countless lasting memories at the place she loved so deeply.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Eloise Rowland; her brother, Neil Rowland; and her longtime companion, Verona Buchele.
She is survived by her sister, Lucille Mae Foster; her nephew, Douglas Foster; her niece, Patricia “Trish” Miceli and Trish’s husband, Joe Miceli; as well as her nephew, Greg Rowland, and her niece, Karen Moore, children of her late brother, Neil Rowland.
Norma will be remembered for her athletic achievements, her love of the lake, and the strength, determination, and kindness that shaped her life. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Private family services will be held, followed by graveside services and interment at Park Lawn Funeral Home.
