PATRICIA JOYCE MURPHY

          Patricia Joyce (McCleery) Murphy, 91, of the Kansas City Northland, passed peacefully on March 18, 2023, at Primrose Retirement Community, with her husband of 73 years, Truman, at her side.

          Pat was born January 14, 1932, in Kansas City, MO, the second of four children of Clarence G. and Marguerite (Hadley) McCleery.  She grew up in the Harlem community on the north banks of the Missouri River.  Pat was united in marriage to Truman W. Murphy on May 27, 1949, and they were blessed with two daughters.

          Pat loved Jesus! She also loved playing the guitar, having her hair done on Fridays at 1 pm, traveling, casinos, cooking, family, and friends.

          Along with her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Prindle; grandson, Ryan Martin; and siblings, Bill McCleery, Ronald McCleery, and Judith Patton.

          Survivors include her husband, Truman Murphy; daughter, Kimberly Chaney (Mark); grandchildren, Tonya Darst (Chris), Amy Bainbridge (Aaron) and Brandon Chaney; great grandchildren, Madelynn, Ryan, and Tristan; as well as other family members and friends.

          Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm, followed by a service celebrating Pat’s life at 1:00 pm, on Friday, March 24, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty, MO.  Private burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Gladstone.
