Patricia (Pat) Ann Shineman, 95 passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024 at the Villages of Jackson Creek in Independence, MO. Pat was born on May 29, 1928 to John and Fern Shaw in Holstein, Nebraska. Pat graduated from Holstein High School May 17, 1945 as Mrs. Patricia Shineman. She married Merle K. Shineman on November 14, 1944. They were married just shy of 55 years before his death in 1999.
Pat worked at National Biscuit Company in KC for 3 years while Merle attended Jewelry and Watchmaker School. After Merle graduated, they moved to Minden, Nebraska where they owned and operated a jewelry store for 7 years. Pat and Merle returned to Kansas City and she went to work at Russell Stover Candies. Pat retired from Russell Stover Candies in 1993 after 36 years of employment. In 1964 Pat and Merle moved into their home on Drumm Avenue in Independence. She was very happy to sell their home to grandson, Steve, when she moved to the Villages of Jackson Creek.
Yahtzee was Pat’s game of choice but she also enjoyed playing Bingo. Pat’s craft projects included making a lighted jewelry Christmas tree for each of her children, Christmas angel ornaments out of sea shells, snowmen out of socks and rice, making doll clothes and putting together flower arrangements. She continued her love of crafts at the Village of Jackson Creek by attending the monthly craft classes.
Pat was a member of the Blue Springs First Church of the Nazarene and had many friends in the Joy Class.
Pat was proceeded in death by her husband Merle, daughter Marilyn Kay Winstead, son-in-law Charles Winstead, grandson Larry Winstead, brother Harold Shaw, sister Marguerite Sorensen-Saylor. She is survived by her daughters, Peggy L Bittiker, Independence MO and Gail Kipp, Lawrence KS, son John Shineman, Independence MO, granddaughter Kimberly Winstead, grandsons Steve Holbrook and Brian Johnson-Kipp; great granddaughters Morgan (Jeff) Flanagan and Tori (Colby) Farren , six great great grandchildren: Jonathan, Ryan, Ellianna, Brayden, Kayden, Charli; Sisters Donna Skiver of San Antonio, TX and Sandra Plambeck-Hansen of Juanita, NE.
Funeral services will be 11:30am, Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Park Lawn Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 10:30am. Committal service will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
