Phillip Kent Swisher, age 72, joined the Lord in his eternal home on Sunday, April 2, 2023. He passed peacefully after a courageous four-month battle with cancer. In his final days, loved ones surrounded Kent at his home in Liberty, MO.
Kent worked at Ford Motor Company for 32 years and retired in 2002. His favorite pastimes included boating, hunting, traveling, and playing cards with his Shelby County friends. He also enjoyed breakfasts with Ford retirees and Sunday school friends. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren. The past few years were devoted to helping care for his mother and mother-in-law with many trips to Shelby County. Kent was a loving son of Laurel and LaVon Swisher who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his siblings, Karla Miller, baby Marilyn Swisher, John Swisher and twin brother, Keith Swisher; and a niece, Tonya Swisher Richardson.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marilyn; his daughter, Tara (Kevin) Rhodes and their family: LJ Taylor, Brooke Taylor, Colton Rhodes, Alex Rhodes and granddaughter, Cali; his son, Carson (Abbie) Swisher and their daughters Addilyn and Caroline. He also leaves his nieces, nephews, and sisters and brothers-in-law.
Kent was greatly loved by his family and many friends. He will be missed by all.
