Phyllis J. Johnson

Phyllis Jean (Reinhardt) Johnson, 84, of Olathe, KS, passed peacefully on June 11, 2025, surrounded by her family at Olathe Health Hospice House.

Phyllis was born June 8, 1941, in Saint Louis, MO, one of three children of Henry and Ruth (Jones) Reinhardt. She graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1959 and later attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. While at CMSU, Phyllis met her future husband, Bruce M. Johnson, and they were united in marriage on June 2, 1962, in Jefferson City. Soon thereafter, the couple moved to the Kansas City area and lived in Raytown for many years where they raised two children, Brian and Laura. They joined Peace Lutheran Church in 1964. Phyllis was a loving coach’s wife, attending 183 football games over the years. Phyllis worked many years for the Raytown School district, and after moving to Olathe, she worked for the Olathe School district until retirement in 2006. Phyllis was a member of the American Football Coaches Wives’ Association and the Raytown Retired Teachers’ Association.

Along with Bruce, her husband of 63 years, Phyllis leaves her children and their spouses, Brian and Bonnie Johnson, and Laura and Ron Johnson, all of Overland Park, KS; two grandchildren, Megan Johnson and Michael Johnson (wife Anna); two great granddaughters, Emery and Lainey; her brother, Robert Reinhardt (wife Mary); as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Along with her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her sister, Gloria Hohenstreet.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM followed by funeral services at 11 AM, on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Peace Lutheran Church, 8240 Blue Ridge Boulevard, Kansas City, MO 64138. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence, KS. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in memory of Phyllis to Peace Lutheran Church.
