Rayma Jean Deckard

Rayma Jean Deckard was born November 22, 1941, in Neck City, Missouri, to Ralph and Marietta Burger. She was preceded in death by both parents.

Rayma obtained her education at William Chrisman High, Independence, Missouri, On February 6, 1959, she married Virgil Deckard. To this union three lovely daughters were born.

Rayma was a loving person especially when it came to family. She would help others whenever she could and do whatever was needed. She was a woman of many talents. She was creative in arts & crafts, seamstress, a designer of shirts called Pit Wear, and an excellent artist.

Her professional life included working as a driver with transportation company, Renzenberger, and working as a sales associate in a department store. 

Rayma truly enjoyed life. She loved the mountains, bird watching, and nature in general. She liked to ride motorcycles, dune buggies, and especially enjoyed one of her favorite pastimes, fishing. And anytime there was a Chiefs game, you could find Rayma watching. 

 Rayma departed this life on November 4, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospice House. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by three daughters: Debra Deckard-Talbot, of Fort Scott, KS, Angela Deckard, of Lee’s Summit MO and Sherry Deckard, of Blue Springs, MO, a son-in-law, Robert Talbot, (what about Bob), who she always called the “son she never had,” one brother; Rodney Burger, of Raytown MO, five grandchildren: Shanna Mackay, Jeffrey Halvorsen, Autumn Kress, Nicole Kress and Rayce Lewis, six great-grandchildren: Dayton Binkley, Nevaeh Binkley, Brentley Kress, Avery Pritchard, Maycee Pritchard and Mackayla Pritchard, one great-great-grandchild, Ace Binkley and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Floral deliveries may be made to the American Legion, Post 21, after 1:30 PM, on November 22, 2024. The address is 16701 E US Highway 40, Independence MO 64055.
