REV. JOHN H. MORGANS
Reverend John Henry Morgans, 88, beloved husband, father, grandfather, pastor, and longtime Liberty resident, went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2024, at his home with family at his side.
A native of Claremore, Oklahoma, John was born June 17, 1935, the son of Ralph H. and Oklahoma (Taylor) Morgans. He was united in marriage to Rhodana Mae Sutherland on January 16, 1954, and they were blessed with four children.
In 1971, John and Rhodana and their young family moved to Liberty, Missouri, where Pastor Morgans established the United Pentecostal Church in their home. A church building was built at 1315 Nashua Road in Liberty in 1979, and John pastored there until he retired in 2009.
Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by a son, Rev. Bobby Dean Morgans, and his wife of 69 years, Rhodana Mae Morgans. Survivors include three children, Rev. Gary R. Morgans (Teresa), Diana Snider (Donald deceased), and Rev. Douglas J. Morgans (Mae); daughters-in-law, Barbara Morgans, Rita Decker, and Lynn Morgans; 23 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, as well as other family members and many friends.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm, followed by a funeral service officiated by Pastor Stan Gleason and John’s sons Gary and Doug, at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, April 13, at The Refuge Church (now located at Liberty Hills Bible Church), 1315 Nashua Road, Liberty, MO. Burial will follow at Glenridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the John Morgans Shepherd’s Project being established in his memory. Checks may be payable to Gary Morgans, 809 North Tepee Drive, Independence, MO 64056.
