Richard "Dick" M. Acock Jr., 81, of Independence Missouri passed away on Sunday May 24, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital. Dick was born on July 19, 1944, to the late Richard M. Sr. and Susan M. Acock of Kansas City Missouri.
Dick spent most of his life working as a Mechanic. He was employed for years by Tri-City Ministries keeping their aging fleet of school buses safe and running. While there he also was the first teacher at Tri-City High School's auto shop class passing along his experience to the students. He then moved to Intec Construction Company maintaining their fleet of trucks and the concrete equipment.
In his spare time - when he had any - he would help others with their vehicles, watch Royals baseball & NASCAR races, and spent time fishing when he could. He also served his country as a member of the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents Dick is preceded in death by his infant daughter Jenifer Acock.
He is survived by his Wife of 60 years, Charlotte A. Acock, Son Scott (Amy) Acock, Daughter Dana (Arthur) Baker, and Son Joel (Amy) Acock and former spouse Kelly Acock. Brother Ronald (Patty) Acock, and Sister Carol Acock Jones James. Grandchildren: Jake and Shelby Delargy; Jessica and Dean Baker; and Mason and Gunnar Acock.
Visitation will be Friday, June 12, 2026 from 1-2 PM at Park Lawn Funeral Home 8251 Hillcrest Road; Funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 PM at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in Green Lawn Cemetery.
