Richard M. Ong

Richard M. Ong died August 30, 2023.  A visitation and rosary will be held at 9:30 AM on September 7, 2023, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 815 E. Meyer Boulevard, Kansas City Missouri; private burial in Resurrection Cemetery of Lenexa, Kansas.

He was a lifelong resident of Kansas City and grew-up in the Brookside neighborhood, attending St. Peter’s elementary school, and Rockhurst High School.  He graduated from Rockhurst College (now University).  He started his professional career at IBM before moving to the insurance field, where he became an independent insurance agent for the vast majority of his career.

He is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Mary Ong, his Uncle the Reverend Walter J. Ong, S.J., and his long-time friend Mary L. Preuss.

In his retirement years, he was an active volunteer with many local charitable organizations including the Pilgrim Center and Operation Breakthrough.  He was a proud alumnus and supporter of Rockhurst University, and a supporter of several other charitable organizations both in the Kansas City area and world-wide.

Per his request no flowers at the funeral or burial.
