Benton
October 12, 1947 – May 27, 2026
Robert “Bob” Clark Benton, 78, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, surrounded by his family after a long battle with COPD and cancer. A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend, Robert was born on October 12, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri. Services will be held June 5th, 2026 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Linden Baptist Church of Gladstone, MO and Luminos Hospice of Blue Springs, MO.
He is predeceased by his father Robert Xavier and his mother Edrith Jane “Toni” Templeton, as well as his sister Jacqueline J. He is survived by his wife, Lora Jane Hill Benton, his two children, Eric Robert Benton (Sandy) and Tanya Michelle Benton, and his four grandchildren, Taylor Patrick Goodwin, Jason George Goodwin, Morgan Benton-Kuhns (Grayson Kuhns), Karlie Michelle Benton. He met his sweetheart on a blind date on October 15th in 1963, and they later married on March 11th in 1967. They welcomed their first-born son into the world in 1970 and their daughter in 1972.
After Bob graduated North Kansas City High school in 1965, he began working at Faultless Linen in 1967 as a route man. He was a dedicated and reliable employee and was promoted to district manager after 20 years. Bob Benton retired in 2015 after a total of 48 years working for Faultless Linen.
Bob enjoyed golfing in his free time. He competed with his friends in many leagues, even achieving a “Hole-in-One” , which was proudly displayed in his home. He collected golf balls which lined his walls on display. His most cherished hobby was riding his multiple motorcycles through the years. Two of his favorites being the Harley Davidson 2007 Softail Deluxe, which has been passed down to his son’s possession, and the 2014 Road king. He thoroughly enjoyed retirement by joining a local biker group called ROMEOs- Retired Old Men Eating Out. He was constantly in search for the biggest pork tenderloin and good company. We find comfort in knowing that he found it.
Bob Benton will be deeply missed by his friends and family. We will miss his risqué jokes, his crazy stories, and boisterous laugh. His grandchildren will miss seeing him in his recliner drinking a cup of coffee. We thank you for gathering with us in celebration of his wonderful life. Please join us on Bob’s “last ride” via motorcycle procession to the White Chapel Cemetery for inurnment following visitation.
