Robert Lee Girvin

Robert Lee Girvin, 92, of Liberty, Missouri, passed away March 13, 2023, in Liberty.

Bob was born August 17, 1930, in Topeka, Kansas, the younger of two sons of Lee Ross and Edith (Strong) Girvin.  He graduated from Seaman High School in Topeka in 1948.

Bob served in the US Navy from 1951 until he received honorable discharge in 1955. He later served in the US Coast Guard Reserves until 1990, attaining the rank of Commander, and was a member of the Reserve Officers’ Association.

Bob was united in marriage to Christine May Oshel on September 1, 1951, and they are blessed with two sons, Robert Kim and David Wayne.

Bob’s career in Engineering with AT&T spanned 35 years. He was a member of South Liberty Baptist Church.

Along with his parents, Lee Ross and Edith, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Christine, on January 18, 2023.  He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Jordan; and great grandson, Waylynn Kirby.

Visitation will be held from 2-3 pm, followed by military honors at 3:00 pm, on Wednesday, March 22, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty. Interment will be at a later date in Glenridge Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
