Robert F. Prichard, age 84, a force to be reckoned with from day one, left this world reluctantly on May 22, 2026, but entirely independent to the end. Born on August 28, 1941, in Excelsior Springs MO, Robert lived life on his own terms. In his world, there were no grey areas, things were either right or wrong, and there were two ways of doing things, his way or the wrong way.
"Ornery" was a word frequently used to describe him, and it was a badge he wore proudly. It was a well-known rule among those who knew him: if he wasn’t giving you a hard time, he probably didn’t like you. Yet, beneath that hard outer shell lived a kind and tender-hearted man.
Robert was a proud, skilled carpenter for over 30 years, leaving his mark on countless buildings and homes across the Kansas City area. He possessed a lifelong passion for fixing, repairing, and building. His hands were rarely still, and his work ethic was unmatched.
Beyond his trade, Robert was a true animal lover. Horses and dogs brought him immense happiness throughout his life. On his land in Rayville, he found great joy in raising and training Western Pleasure Quarter Horses, making deep, lifelong friendships within the horse community along the way.
He is survived by his son, Robert O. Prichard, and daughter-in-law Karen Prichard; his two grandchildren and their spouses, Ellen and Joe Revak, and Robert Spencer and AnnMarie Prichard; and his two great-grandchildren, Freddie and Reese Revak. He also leaves behind his brother and sister-in-law, David and Nancy Prichard; his friend and ex-wife, Patricia A. Prichard; along with lifelong friends who were like family, Linda, Amy and Katie, and many other family members and dear friends.
Robert was reunited in death with his mother, Mabel Marie Hill Prichard and his father; his brother, Richard Prichard; his sister, Patricia Thompson; and his beloved dog, Bitty, who provided him with companionship and unconditional love for many years.
Robert, as wonderfully ornery as he was, will be truly missed, but his unforgettable legacy lives on in the family he loved and the structures he built.
