Mr. Rodney “Rod” Grouse, 60, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026. He was born on October 22, 1965, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Jack and Judy Grouse. Rod was a lifelong resident of Raytown, Missouri, and graduated from Raytown South High School in 1984.

Rod worked as a utility locator throughout his career with Unite, USIC and Integrity. He was a proud father and grandfather who cherished his family and the time he spent with those he loved.

Rod had a great sense of humor and a competitive spirit that made him fun to be around and, at times, made even the simplest competition a little more interesting. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed fishing, golf, baseball and football. In recent years, the KC Current became one of his favorites. Whether he was watching a game, playing a round of golf, fishing or simply enjoying time with family and friends, Rod brought his personality, humor and competitive spirit with him.

Rod was preceded in death by his father, Jack Grouse. He is survived by his mother, Judy Grouse; his brother, Mike Grouse; his sister, Debbie Skaggs; his daughter, Anna Stevenson-Grouse of Fort Mill, South Carolina; his son, Brandon Grouse of Independence, Missouri; his beloved grandchildren, Bella and Katalina; and numerous cousins and extended family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details will be announced when arrangements are finalized.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Kansas City, Missouri 3&2 Baseball League.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at St. Luke’s Hospital, both East and Plaza, for the care they provided to Rod. We are also deeply grateful to the brave firefighters and paramedics who were first on the scene and responded with compassion and courage.

Rod will be remembered for his love of family, his quick sense of humor, his competitive spirit, and his passion for sports. He leaves behind many memories, many stories, and many people who loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
