Roger Eugene Meeks, 73, longtime resident of Pleasant Valley, passed peacefully from this earth on July 30, 2026, at Sage Grove Assisted Living in Blue Springs.

Roger was born July 29, 1953 to Juanita (Gaddy) and Raymond Meeks, in Kansas City, Missouri. He married Connie Crouthers on May 27, 1972 and they had two children.

Roger was often the most social person in a room. Recently, while reminiscing with his family he told stories about being a room parent at Gracemor Elementary. He was a proud Eagle Scout and member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say of Troop 214 where he also served as a leader. A devoted resident of Pleasant Valley, he was elected as a multiple term alderman as well as serving as a volunteer firefighter, and EMT.

Following graduation from Oak Park High School in 1971, Roger enlisted in the US Air Force where he trained and served as a radio mechanic. After starting out as a Letter Carrier and furthering his skills in electronics; he excelled as an Electronics Technician with the United States Postal Service for many years, eventually retiring as Manager of Maintenance in 2008. Roger enjoyed a brief first retirement and in 2012 he embarked on a second career as an over-the-road trucker where he saw the United States on 18 wheels. Without a doubt, Roger would have told you that his favorite job was being Papa to Mason, Emma and Joshua.

Roger’s memory will continue to be cherished by; Son Matthew Meeks (John) of Blue Springs, MO; Daughter, Marissa McAninch (Ben) of Raymore, MO; Grandchildren Mason Meeks, Tuscaloosa AL; Emma Dudley and Joshua Dudley, both of Raymore MO; Sister Rhonda Kobylinski (Kenneth) of The Villages, FL; The Mother of his children, Connie Meeks of Raymore, MO; Numerous Nieces, Nephews, Family and Friends.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by a service honoring Roger’s life at 2:30 pm, on Monday, August 10, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, 1640 State Route 291, Liberty, MO. Burial will follow at Glenridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a memorial contribution to the Pleasant Valley Fire Department.
