Roger Lee Wilson

Roger Lee Wilson, 83, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025. Roger was born on July 5, 1942, in Mobile, Alabama, to Leonard and Lavinia Wilson. He graduated from Kidder High School in 1960 and joined the U.S. Army later that year. Roger served as an Army Paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division until an accident resulted in the loss of his left leg above the knee.

After returning to civilian life, Roger held various jobs but was best known for his steel business, Roger Wilson Sales, which served welding shops, builders, and the Amish community across northern Missouri.

Roger was the proud father of three sons: Roger Jr., Craig, and Seth. His children admired his unwavering work ethic and independence. He never viewed his missing limb as a disability, but rather as a challenge to overcome—a living example of “why not try” regardless of obstacles. His family will deeply miss his wit, his bright blue eyes, and his infectious smile.

Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Venita Wilson, and his brother, Bill Wilson. He is survived by his children: Roger Wilson Jr., Craig L. Wilson (Andrea), and Seth Wilson; grandchildren: Keelie Wilson, Faith Wilson and Casey Johnson; great-grandchildren: Julian Ross and Kenna Ross; and siblings: Gary Wilson, Alan Wilson, Yvonne Wiedmaier, and Linda Murray.

Visitation and funeral will be held at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, 1640 N. State Route 291 Highway, Liberty, MO 64068. Visitation begins at 9:00 a.m., Friday, January 09, 2026, followed by the funeral at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place immediately following the funeral at Oak Ridge Memory Garden, 18301 E. Salisbury Rd, Independence, MO 64056. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Roger’s life.
