Ronald “Ronnie” Lacount Hanes

Ronald “Ronnie” Lacount Hanes, 62, unexpectedly went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 30, 2025.

Ronnie was born on July 14, 1963, in Liberal, Kansas, to Richard and Lovenia Hanes. He graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1981 before joining the U.S. Air Force in 1982. He proudly served for 10 years in satellite communications, including time in England during Desert Storm.

Following his military service, Ron earned his Bachelor’s degree from MidAmerica Nazarene University and later his MBA from Baker University. He went on to build a long and respected career with the U.S. Department of Treasury, retiring in 2021.

In October 1987, Ronnie married his high school sweetheart, Tamara (Knapp) Hanes. Together they made their home in Liberty and later Kearney, Missouri. In 1996, they were blessed with their daughter, Julia Lanae. Julia remembers her dad as her greatest encourager, always pushing her to achieve her goals, and as her favorite companion for countless sporting events. Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

Ron was a faithful member of Liberty Christian Church since 1994, where he served as Chairman of the Property Committee for three years during his retirement. He was devoted to family and loved hosting gatherings, from the annual Fourth of July celebration to the Golden Ladle Thanksgiving Cookoff. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling, golfing, and spending time with loved ones.

He is rejoicing in Heaven with his parents, Richard and Lovenia Hanes; his brother, Eldon (Leroy) Briscoe; and several family and friends. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 38 years, Tamara; his daughter Julia (partner Joseph Semet); siblings Lyndel Hanes and Tanja Johnson (husband Steve); sister-in-law Marleen Birky (husband Thomas Daley); numerous beloved family members, and dear friends; his loyal dogs Fairbanks, Evie, and Poppie (granddogs Abby and Sophie).

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 8th, at Liberty Christian Church, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service will take place immediately after at Glenridge Cemetery in Liberty, Missouri.

Until we meet again ". . . do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” — 2 Peter 3:8

If your heart is willing, please consider donating in Ron's memory to the Property Committee of Liberty Christian Church which he held dear.
