Rosaline Ann Cain

October 7, 1939 — June 18, 2025

Rosaline Ann Cain was a woman of grit and grace. Her life was built on hard work, simple joys and a quiet strength that spoke louder than words ever could, she passed away on June 18, 2025. She was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, on October 7, 1939 to  one of five children, and graduated from Easton High School. As a child, she and her siblings traveled from Missouri to Oregon, a cross-country adventure that sparked her lifelong love of nature.

Rosaline spent her career as a telephone technician for United Telephone and Sprint. She was good at her job—sharp, capable, and dependable—and she built lasting friendships with coworkers she truly cared for.

She eventually settled in northwest Missouri making Kansas City her home with the love of her life, Rodney. The two began their life together in 1979 and married in 1998. Through the decades, they built a home rooted in respect and admiration. Whether they were camping together, spending time with Rodney’s cousins Terry and Sharon Schultz at the barn or relaxing at Pomme de Terre Lake, their time was always well spent.

Rosaline loved the outdoors. She was a skilled hunter who proudly shot elk and deer. She could even ride a dirt bike—something that impressed Rodney early on and still makes for a favorite story. She also had a green thumb and kept a garden full of flowers and fresh produce. She especially loved growing tomatoes and Rodney still plants today in her honor. While she worked in the flower beds, he’d mow the lawn around her, side by side in their own rhythm.

Animals were always part of her world, especially dogs. She raised German Shepherds and spoiled every pup she had. Her love for them was deep and constant. Rosaline was also known for her cooking. She’d send quarts of chili, fresh-baked cookies, and homemade fudge to her relatives just because she could. Everything she made came from the heart and made people feel thought of and cared for. Earlier in life, she enjoyed playing cards and was always up for a good game of pool. She liked being outside, whether it was camping, gardening or just sitting out back with Rodney and the dogs.

Rosaline is survived by her husband Rodney Cain and daughter Jamie.

She was a wife, a mother, a sister, an aunt, a grandmother, and a friend. She was down-to-earth, thoughtful, and genuine. She made people feel at home, not through big gestures, but through steady love, good food, and quiet support.

Rosaline lived the kind of life that doesn’t always make headlines, but makes all the difference in the world to the people lucky enough to be part of it.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
