Sarah Carleen Hampton, 89, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at Pleasant Valley Manor, Pleasant Valley, MO.
Sarah was born October 3, 1936, in Middleton, TN. The daughter of Luther and Sarah (Kirk) Gentry. She was the oldest of seven children. Sarah and her family moved to the Northeast Area of Kansas City, MO in 1950.
As a young women Sarah worked as a waitress at the American Café where she meet the love of her life Cecil Hampton II. They were married in 1952 and made their home in Kansas City, Kansas.
In 1967 Sarah started her job as an inspector for the Proctor & Gamble Company where she work for 30 years retiring as a supervisor in 1997. Sarah loved children. After retiring she helped her daughter with her licensed day care.
Sarah enjoyed reading a good book or watching a good movie especially if it stared Clint Eastwood. She enjoyed keeping in touch with her friends. She would often have long conversations with her friend Susan Crafton discussing life and recent events. Sarah was a good cook and would often enjoyed cooking for her family having many family dinners. She always enjoyed a good slice of chocolate cake and a cup of Starbucks coffee.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband Cecil in 2009. One son Cecil Hampton, Jr. in 1996, Two grandsons, Kevin Hampton in 2025 and Scott Klossoper. Three sisters, Lynn Petersen, Gloria Kraft and Kally Ballard.
She is survived by her children; Ron Hampton (Barbara), Gloria Hershberger (Amery), Grandchildren; Justin, Jennifer, Matthew, Derek, Tara, Shelly, Josh, Brennen, Seth, Ian and last but not least Gracie and many great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 1-2pm Friday, January 9, 2026, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, 1640 Route 291 Highway, Liberty, MO 64068 immediately followed by the funeral service at 2:00pm. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, Gladstone, MO. Sarah’s family suggest memorial contributions to the American Lung Association in her memory.
Known for her sweet yet spunky personality, Sarah was always ready with advice and her own loving perspective. Her memory and love will forever be cherished by her family.
