Shane and Marcia Immelt

Marcia Boyd McKnight Gillett Immelt, 88, of Liberty, Missouri, passed away on May 20, 2026. She was born on October 2, 1937, in Evanston, Illinois, to Richard and Eugenia Boyd McKnight. 

Marcia spent her early adult years in New York City and Long Island before returning to Evanston, Illinois, where she and her husband Tim settled for nine years. In 1971, they moved to Tomahawk, Wisconsin, where they owned and operated the Silver Birch Supper Club and the Tomahawk Motor Hotel. There, Marcia showcased her culinary talents as a restaurateur, sharing her love of food and hospitality with the community. During this time, she and Tim also began breeding and showing English Springer Spaniels, a passion they continued for many years.

 In 1979, Marcia moved to Liberty, Missouri, where she remained for the rest of her life. She was known for her love of cooking, her devotion to dogs, and her appreciation for music—gifts and passions she passed down to her family in many meaningful ways. Marcia had a special way of bringing people together and creating lasting memories through the things she loved most. 

Later in life, she met and married Shane Immelt. Shane and Marcia opened up a photography studio, Minds-I Photographic on the square in Liberty. They were also avid BBQers with their 2Crew’d for Q team. they remained happily married for the rest of his life. She is survived by her two sons, Buck and Bob Gillett. She was preceded in death by her son, Dick Gillett, and her husbands, Tim Gillett and Shane Immelt. 

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 20, graveside at Glenridge Cemetery in Liberty, Missouri. 

Marcia will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
