Sherry Lynn Huntington, born in Kansas City, Missouri, on November 1, 1946, passed away at her home in Topeka, Kansas, on August 22, 2025, at the age of seventy-eight.
Sherry was the daughter of Mack McCorkle and Helen Schmidt, and is now reunited with her sisters Dina May McCorkle and Becky McCorkle.
Sherry had a long steady career in banking where she made many long lasting friendships. Her love for her sons gave her the fortitude to endure a stressful career and hard economic circumstances led her to having to work two jobs. Her second job reignited her passion for fashion and she made some lasting friendships.
Sherry had many other interests but, traveling was at the top of the list. She was fortunate enough to go on a few trips that inspired and motivated her.
She was a Mamaw to George and Joni’s feline family and prior to Alexandra’s birth would jokingly ask Peter and Laura, “Do I have to settle for a grand-dog?”. Her love for animals never stopped and she passed that love to her sons, daughters-in-laws and granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by Dina May McCorkle and Becky McCorkle.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at eleven o’clock in the morning at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, 1640 Route 291, Liberty, Missouri. The funeral service will follow at twelve o’clock noon. Burial will then follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, Missouri, where Sherry will be laid to rest next to her family.
