Shirley Jean Luetkenhoelter Henderson
Shirley Jean Henderson, 77, died at the home of her son, Travis Henderson in Brandenburg, Kentucky on Friday, February 13, 2026 due to complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on September 21, 1948 to Medora Ward and Walter Luetkenhoelter.
Shirley had over 30 years of service with Hallmark Cards, Inc., retiring in 2005. She worked at the main headquarters in Kansas City for many years and the Liberty Distribution Center.
A graduate of Liberty High School, Class of 1966. Shirley enjoyed reuniting with some of her classmates for monthly luncheons. In 1987 she joined Kappa Delta Phi Sorority, a philanthropic women’s organization, with the Liberty chapter, Zeta Zeta. She served as Director of Middlewest Region before pursuing the national level where she held various positions. Ms. Henderson achieved the highest honor as a member by being elected as the National President in 2009 and 2010, serving two terms. Following her leadership she served as Chairman, National Board of Directors.
Surviving are two sons: Tod Henderson (wife Jonnie) and Travis Henderson (wife Jaimee); twelve grandchildren, Kaitlyn Bryan (husband Tyler), Faith Carter-Powers (husband Holden), Hailey Goodrich, Mackenzie Henderson, Cameron Goodrich, Charity Holcomb, Jenna Henderson, Jack Henderson, Ruby Chrisp, Paige Henderson, Heidy Henderson, and Giana Henderson. Also surviving is one great grandchild Alani, two sisters, Debbi Scott, Tammi Osner, and a special lifelong friend Renee Westfall.
Ms. Henderson was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother,Tom Luetkenhoelter.
Memorial Services will be held 2:00pm, with visitation to follow until 4pm, Monday, March 9, 2026 at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, 1640 N. State Route 291 in Liberty, Missouri
Memorial donations may be made to Hosparus Health of Louisville KY or North Kansas City Hospice and/or Kappa Delta Phi’s Welfare Fund in memory of Shirley J. Henderson.. The Wellfare Fund provides scholarships to occupational therapy students through the AOTF (American Occupational Therapy Foundation).
